Birth Control

Ladies and gentlemen, we have the #1 argument against birth control from a "Christian Counselor."

"Christian couples are entitled to know that some methods of birth control can be deadly for their unborn children."

And here I thought the reason that birth control was used was so that children COULD be born.

My first post in a month and it took a sentence like that to prompt one. Oh well...

Not sure what context you've removed that from, but I imagine that it possibly refers to the potential life threatening birth defects incurred from various methods of birth control, hence the reason many women stop taking the pill when they get pregnant. Or, for religious parents, I suppose the comment may refer to the morning after pill, which is considered by some people to ultimately amount to an abortion pill. In any case, I don't think its as simple as you've interpreted.

The person who said it is an extreme pro-lifer who believes that birth control is murder. It was in response to a measure that was on the floor in one of the midwestern states that would outlaw most forms of birth control, including the pill and the morning after pill. I mentioned this quote in particular because it is representative of the measure he supports. The superficial context seems to be a concern for the unborn (and it very well may be) at the expense of some forms of BC. However, the ultimate goal is a complete eradication of all forms of BC, regardless of safety, and wholly because of extreme religious belief.
